MS057 ENDURANCE
The
Endurance was launched in 1912 and was sold to Sir Ernest
Shackleton in 1914 for his return trip to the Atlantic. The
Endurance was fitted with four lifeboats. After being crushed
by the ice it then sank in the Weddell Sea in 1915. It was
these four lifeboats that provided shelter as well as
transportation that brought the entire ship’s crew of 25 with
one stowaway back to Great Britain.
